Job description

Foreign Policy is recruiting a full-time staff writer based in either Washington D.C. or New York, focused primarily on delivering FP’s Morning Brief newsletter every day. This writer should have experience writing about and analyzing international affairs and economics for a global audience. Morning Brief is FP’s flagship newsletter and its writer will have a daily audience of top professionals in the diplomatic and foreign policy community.

The role will also entail writing explainers, Q&As, and other types of articles.

We’re a collaborative team, so candidates need to work well with others. Applicants should be committed to FP’s mission—explaining the world to Washington and Washington to the world—and able to bring a keen sense of professionalism, urgency, and dedication to the job

Responsibilities include

  • Curate and write FP’s Morning Brief newsletter
  • Work with FP’s editors on A/B tests and monitor open rates and other newsletter metrics
  • Liaise with editors and writers of other FP e-mail products
  • Write explainers and conduct interviews related to top news stories
  • Other projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
    • A demonstrated interest and understanding of global affairs
    • Prior experience in international journalism
